Chicago, then moved to Eugene to study Fine Art and Dance at the University of Oregon. Cooper left school in her final quarter and moved to Paris, where she studied at L'Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Cooper lived in France for nearly 10 years before returning to the US.
In 1996, Cooper moved to Washington State and began working as a muralist and decorative painter. She returned to school in 2004 and earned her BFA in Performance Production with an emphasis in Scenic Painting from Cornish College of the Arts.
In December 2015, she completed her MFA in Fine Art from The Academy of Art University.
Cooper and her daughter, Morgan, opened Cooper Lanza Gallery in April 2016, offering painting and drawing classes, live music venue, and gallery.
