Tomas Vrba creates large-scale sculptures in wood and metal. Originally from Slovakia, he was classically trained as a fine art restorer in Bratislava. He went on to preserve some of the finest sculptures in Vienna before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2006 and pursuing his dream of creating his own artwork, which he has done full time since 2010.
Tomas uses a combination of hand and power tools and custom patinas to create monumental sculptures in metal and wood. In his work, regardless of the subject matter, he aims to play with lines, movement and forms of energy. He often explores animal forms, especially as they interact with the life cycle of the larger world.
