Classically trained in his native country of Slovakia, Tomas Vrba now combines oldworld
techniques with a modern northwest aesthetic to create one-of-a-kind wood sculptures, fashioned from locally salvaged wood. Tomas’ sculptures explore the ways in which art pushes back at the bloated, constantly expanding boundaries of industrialized society, often turning to animal forms, especially as they interact with the life cycle of the larger world. In his work can be found an exploration of the tenuous boundaries between the natural, unfettered world we humans were born into and the industrialized world we created for ourselves. His sculptures have appeared in galleries, exhibitions, and public works projects around the world.
